About the Department
Chairman's Welcome
Welcome to the Physics Department at the University of Chicago. This website is designed to do several things:
- To provide information to visitors and prospective students on the research we do, our undergraduate and graduate academic programs, our news and history, as well as how to find us.
- To provide information to our current undergraduate and graduate students on courses, research seminars, and other academic events.
- To give easy access to information our own faculty and staff need as they perform their duties.
The University of Chicago prides itself on cross-disciplinary research. To promote interaction between disciplines, physics research is primarily carried out in three research institutes: Enrico Fermi Institute, the James Franck Institute and the Institute for Biophysical Dynamics
