The Physics Department at the University of Chicago invites applications for the 2008-2010 Grainger Fellowship in Experimental Physics. Candidates must be outstanding early-career scientists who will have received a doctoral degree in Physics, Astronomy or related fields by the fall of 2008. This two-year award carries an annual stipend of $54,000 and an allocation of up to $6,000 per year for research expenses. The purpose of this fellowship is to enable an early-career experimentalist to work either independently or in close association with the members of the Physics Department in areas of mutual interest.

In order to be considered for this fellowship, a letter of nomination is requested for each candidate. Candidates should arrange for the following materials to be sent to the Fellowship Committee, Department of Physics, 5720 South Ellis Avenue, Chicago, IL 60637 before December 1, 2007:
- Curriculum vitae
- List of publications and preprints
- Description of research interests to be pursued at The University of Chicago
- Names of two scientists (in addition to the nominator) who will provide supporting letters (Their letters should be sent directly to the Committee by December 1, 2007.)
