Welcome to the Physics Department at the University of Chicago. This website is designed to do several things:

• To provide information to visitors and prospective students on the research we do, the academic programs we offer, our news and history, and how to find us and obtain further information.
• To provide information to our undergraduate and graduate students on class schedules, research seminars, and other academic events.
• To give easy access to information our own faculty and staff need as they perform their research and teaching duties.

The University of Chicago prides itself on cross-disciplinary research. To promote interaction between disciplines, physics research is primarily carried out in three research institutes.
