Based on his book, Atomic Doctors: Conscience and Complicity at the Dawn of the Nuclear Age, sociologist James L. Nolan, Jr. will discuss the Manhattan Project and the challenges doctors and physicists faced in building and detonating the first atomic bomb in human history, focusing in particular on the way in which they handled concerns about the effects of nuclear radiation.
