Leo Kadanoff, a condensed matter theorist in the JFI. He has been appointed as a Distinguished Research Chair at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Zheng-Tian Lu, a Professor in the Physics Department and a Physicists at Argonne National Laboratory. He has been chosen to receive the 2009 Francis M. Pipkin Award of the American Physical Society, which honors exceptional research by a young scientist in the area of precision measurement and fundamental constants.

Robin Santra, an Associate Professor in the Physics Department and a Physicists at Argonne National Laboratory. He is a recipient of the 2007 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.
