Residential Requirement

The Department of Physics believes that it is of critical pedagogical importance that graduate students engage with the departmental community in person. Therefore, students are expected to be present on campus and required to reside in the greater Chicago area for the duration of their studies. Exceptions may be made in cases where a student's research demands that they reside elsewhere for part of their time in the program. Students must consult with their research advisor, the Director of Graduate Studies, and the Physical Sciences Division Dean of Students prior to making plans to move away from campus.
