Rising Stars Symposia 2021 (Virtual)

The UChicago Rising Stars Symposia 2021 are a platform for exceptional early-career scientists in the broad field of physics to present their work. The symposia are intended to promote early-career development of researchers working in exciting new directions in soft and biological materials, quantum science and technology, and experimental particle physics. Another goal is to increase the diversity of researchers in these fields; we particularly welcome applications for the symposium from researchers who come from under-represented groups. Those selected to participate in the symposia will receive an honorarium. See detailed information below.

Rising Stars in Soft and Biological Materials

This symposium will take place on September 23 and 24, 2021 virtually.

Quantum Creators Prize Symposium

See here for more information.

This symposium will take place on September 29 and 30, 2021 virtually. Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows from any institution who wish to be considered for the Quantum Creators Prize Symposium should submit the following information by August 15, 2021 to Eileen Sheu (esheu@uchicago.edu): (1) a C.V., (2) a brief research statement (500 words) outlining research interests and achievements, and (3) a brief personal statement (300 words) describing your vision for a future career in STEM research/education and how it has been shaped by your own perspectives and experiences working in the STEM research/education community.  Applicants should also request a recommendation letter from an advisor to be emailed separately to Eileen Sheu (esheu@uchicago.edu) with the subject line "Recommendation letter for (Applicant first and last name)". Decisions will be made by September 1, 2021.
