Undergraduate student Margot Young has recieved an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, a five-year fellowship providing three years of financial support including an annual stipend of $34,000, in addition to a $12000 educational allowance to the institution.

On February 17, 2022, the Korean Academy of Science and Technology elected Young-Kee Kim as a foreign member. Professor Young-Kee Kim is a global scholar in particle physics, and was recognized for her outstanding work as deputy director of the Fermilab Institute, representing a research group involving more than 700 people from 12 countries. The Dr. Pliny A. and Margaret H. Price Prize recognizes research excellence and exceptional promise in areas related to CCAPP initiatives. Two recipients are hosted by CCAPP for a week, during which they give a Price Prize seminar on their research, establish long-term collaborative relationships, and receive a $2,000 honorarium.
Kaeli Hughes' research focuses on the radio detection of astrophysical neutrinos above 10 PeV.

The award, inaugurated this year and recognizing curiosity-driven basic research in chemistry and physics, supports the investigators’ research with $2 million over five years to their respective universities. Irvine, who researches fundamental problems in fluid dynamics and condensed matter, is one of two scientists chosen.

Michel Fruchart has been named one of four recipients of the 2020-2021 Suzuki Postdoctoral Fellowship Award, which recognizes outstanding postdoctoral researchers. He was nominated by his supervisor, Vincenzo Vitelli, and will be recieve a $10,000 prize.

The University of Chicago will present honorary degrees to six distinguished scholars at next year’s Convocation ceremony. Charles L. Kane, a theoretical physicist who received a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Chicago in 1985 and who is known for his work characterizing quantum electronic states of matter, will receive the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science.

Graduate student Daine Danielson has been awarded the 2020 Hertz Foundation Fellowship, which supports five years of graduate research as well as lifelong professional support, including mentoring and networking within a connected, influential community of Hertz Scholars. Danielson's research explores the phenomenology of fundamental particles and fields, developing novel applications toward nuclear security and nonproliferation, and deepening our understanding of the natural world.

Paolo Privitera has been selected as a winner of the Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentoring.

Recent alumnus Bjorn Scholz has been honored by the American Physical Society.

First-year graduate student Daine Danielson has been awarded the 2019 Innovations in Nuclear Technology R&D Award by the US Department of Energy for his work on, "Directionally Accelerated Detection of a Second, Unknown Reactor with Antineutrinos for Mid-Field Nonproliferation Monitoring."

First-year graduate student Tali Khain has been awarded an APS Apker Award for outstanding achievement by an undergraduate student. She did her undergraduate work at the University of Michigan. She ours now!
